The Plans & manual now available will enable the average handymen to build the Grasshopper themselves.
The basic body tub is built from a single 8’ x 4’ sheet of Medite ‘MD F’, a medium density fibreboard available from most wood suppliers.
All the running gear, i.e. axles, steering wheel etc., the GRP (wings & nosecone) and everything else you would need to make up the complete kit can be supplied by us. This can be bought as a complete kit or each item individually, as and when needed. Many parts can be obtained from general D.I.Y. or hardware stores, therefore cutting the cost, and the Build Manual gives instructions on how to make some of the parts.
The body tub can be skinned in aluminium, but this is optional. MDF is a very good wood to work with, and with a little filler, then sandpaper it will be just as effective when painted.
The Grasshopper uses a high powered 200 watt motor and a single 12 volt car battery will provide up to 3 hours continuous running from one charge. It features brakes, together with forward and reverse gears.
Assembly is quite simple following our step-by-step Build Manual. The Manual is easy to follow and is accompanied by many self explanatory drawings for each stage.
